According to Heartlight System 75% of Patients Maintained Sinus Rhythm Post Procedure

Cardiologists throughout Germany have discussed clinical experiences with the HeartLight endoscopic ablation system during a symposium hosted by CardioFocus.

The HeartLight system, which features an endoscope to see within the heart, is designed for the treatment of advanced atrial fibrillation (AF).

The Symposium is entitled 'Visually Guided Laser Balloon Ablation: 1,000 Patients Ablated in Germany'.

During the program, researchers from German-based Asklepios Hospital St. Georg reported chronic follow-up data using the HeartLight system that demonstrated 75% of patients maintained sinus rhythm post procedure.

The data also reported that the device may offer improvement over conventional RF and Cryoballoon ablation systems.

Other groups presented on topics including the safety profile of device and the potential applicability of technology in addressing persistent AF.

CardioFocus president Stephen Sagon said the studies highlighted at the Symposium focused on the versatility of the system, with respect to any patient anatomy, and the promise of laser energy in achieving durable pulmonary vein isolation.

"We are excited by their experiences with HeartLight over the previous 1,000 cases and eager to continue to see the impact of improved clinical outcomes," Sagon added.
