Jowat Adhesives has inaugurated a new production site near Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, to expand its production capacities and distribution activities in the region.
The new Jowat site located in the Industrial Park Bandar Enstek replaces the company's Balakong production plant opened in 2009.
Built on an area of around 45,000m2, the new plant is located close to the Kuala Lumpur Internatioanl Airport and also has connectivity to international shipping routes in the entire Asia-Pacific region.
Employing 80 people, the plant functions as a regional centre for manufacture, applications and R&D for the German company.
Constructed in 14 months, the new production site is said to meet modern technical standards with German engineering technology.
Jowat SE Asia Pacific vice-president Ralf Schelbach said: "We are also undertaking product R&D in order to provide the highest level of satisfaction for the requirements of local customers.
"Being close to the customer in this respect means to recognize his necessities as soon as possible and to convert these very fast into marketable adhesive systems."
Jowat plants across the world produce around 73,000t of adhesives annually, including hot melt, dispersion, solvent-based adhesives.
The company generates around 75% of its income outside of Germany.
