Las Vegas Is Replacing 6,600 Conventional Streetlight Bulbs with LED Fixtures

Currently, Las Vegas is replacing 6,600 conventional streetlight bulbs with LED fixtures.

According to the City officials, the change will cut the city energy bill by $400,000 each year and reduce the city's annual electricity use by 8 million kilowatt hours.

The first phase is beginning in the Ward 2 neighborhood near Charleston Boulevard and Durango Drive. The city plans to replace 50,000 bulbs in all six wards over the next four months.

Funding comes from $2.9 million in federal energy conservation bonds and $400,000 from a state of Nevada federal stimulus grant.
