Teatulia Has Adopted Green Packaging in Its Product Design

Tea company Teatulia has adopted green packaging in its product design, as part of the company's sustainable plans.

The company packs all its teas in recyclable and compostable paperboard canisters; produces product labels from post-consumer paper and water-based inks and makes all whole leaf tea varieties available in biodegradable, plant-based, silken pyramid tea bags.

The compostable canisters of Teatulia break down into organic matter to create rich and nutrient-filled materials.

The product labels are made from unbleached, recycled paper, which helps eliminate the need for potent chemical toxins that are known to cause genetic damage, reproductive loss and environmental degradation through toxic pollution.

The water-based inks used in Teatulia's packaging use water as the main solvent instead of commonly used, polluting petroleum-based solvents.

The biodegradable pyramid teabags made from corn silk take only a few months to biodegrade and break down into their component organic parts when exposed to some combination of heat and light, water, air, and microbes.

Teatulia has also extended the green packaging commitment to its individually wrapped tea bags used for sampling, spas, coffee shops and fine restaurants. It uses compostable and biodegradable wrappers made from eucalyptus and other renewable, plant-based sources.
