Linkx Systems has developed and installed a new robotic palletizer system for Unilever Bestfoods plant in Norwich.
Unilever Bestfoods approached Linkx to provide automatic palletizing for random packs of cook-in sauces from three adjacent production lines.
The flexibility of the robots enables it to cope with the variety of pack sizes and pallet patterns required. The robot positions the empty pallets and places inter-layer pads.
Linkx developed, designed and constructed the palletizer system, while conveying systems supplier Alpha Chase Engineering supplied the pallet handling conveyors and the pallet de-nester.
The overall control system for the installation, which is based on a Siemens programmable controller, was also developed and supplied by Linkx.
