Case goods and upholstery manufacturer Fine Furniture Design has replaced industry veteran Ted Philpott with Jim Adams as president and CEO.
Philpott left the full-line furniture source this week and Adams has immediately filled his responsibilities. Adams has been with the company since mid-2007 and previously was vice president of marketing and product development.
Before joining FFD, Adams was with Hickory White and was CEO of the CTH Sherrill Occasional division of Sherrill Furniture. Earlier, he spent 29 years at Thomasville Furniture.
Philpott, who worked for 17 years at Lexington, also held executive sales roles at case goods companies Pennsylvania House and Kemp Enterprises before joining Fine Furniture in 2005.
He said today that he plans to remain in the industry and that he is currently pursuing other opportunities.
Adams has largely been responsible for marketing and product development at Fine Furniture Design while Philpott oversaw sales and administration at the company, which was founded in 2000 by the late Larry Moh.
Adams said he will continue his role in marketing and product development, while also overseeing sales and administration.
He said Philpott was "a devoted leader of Fine Furniture" over the years. "He has done a good job for us, and we are just now at a point where the company and ownership felt it wanted to move in a different direction with a different leader."
Adams said he is delighted to fill the leadership role and is eager to move the company forward, particularly following the success at the April High Point Market, which is just ending today, of FFD's new Biltmore for Your Home line, which he believes has been the company's most well received collection.
"This is a great opportunity for me to take the experience I have had in the industry and the experience I have had with Fine Furniture and bring those two things together," he said. "It will bode well for me moving forward."
