The grid operators of Spain and France, Red Electrica de Espana (REE) and Reseau de Transport d'Electricite (RTE), have assigned cross-border capacity for full-year 2016, REE said in a note Friday.
Following an expansion of cross-border capacity in October between the two countries, the TSOs said they were able to offer 700 MW for 2016, up from 300 MW in previous years, the company said.
In the direction France-Spain, all 700 MW were awarded at a price of Eur12.78/MWh.
A total of eight shippers from 18 bidders obtained capacity, REE said.
In the other direction, where 700 MW was offered, nine of 18 bidders obtained capacity at a price of Eur0.79/MWh.
Maximum cross-border capacity is a theoretical 2.95 GW following the startup of the Santa Llogaia-Baixas interconnection this year.
European auction operator CASC.EU also auction capacity on the France-Spain link on a monthly basis.
In the latest auction, a total of 1.3 GW of France-Spain December baseload was sold at auction at a price of Eur8.85/MWh, while the Spain-France outcome for December was Eur0.64/MWh.
