There Is The Announcement That Pokémon Figures Will Enter The Fray

The 'toys to life' video game category is about to get a lot more interesting, with the announcement that Pokémon figures will enter the fray.

First there was Skylanders, then Disney Infinity was announced, and Hasbro has dabbled in this sector with its B-Daman toys.

Now Nintendo is the latest company set to produce figures that can connect to a video game and be played with digitally on-screen.

The difference here is that the figures will cost nearer £2 each, rather than £10 or so.

MCV and Eurogamer reported that downloadable Wii U game Pokémon Rumble U will allow players to buy Pokémon figurines and see the specific characters appear in-game.

Six figures and one special character have been announced so far, including the iconic Pokémon Pikachu.

Japanese magazine CoroCoro (as translated by Serebii) also stated that the Rumble U video game will be available to download using the Japanese eShop on April 24th.

The game is said to cost £12.60 (1,800 Yen), while toys will be priced at around £1.40 (200 Yen) each.

There's currently no word on a UK release.

Skylanders has sold over 100 million figures and has generated over $1 billion in worldwide retail sales since launching in late 2011.
