US-based Provision Center for Proton Therapy has selected RaySearch Laboratories' RayStation treatment planning system as part of a partnership signed earlier in 2013 by both firms.
Provision Center for Proton Therapy president Mary Lou DuBois said, "RaySearch's innovative products, commitment to research and development, and strong collaborative approach to deliver high quality patient care perfectly aligns with our mission at Provision."
RayStation implementation will include uniform scanning and passive scattering proton beam planning, IMRT for photons with multi-criteria optimization, besides technologies including full deformable registration and adaptive re-planning.
In mid-2014, Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) dose calculation capabilities designed to enable Intensity Modulated Proton Therapy (IMPT) will be launched.
RaySearch CEO Johan Lf said, "In May we entered into a collaboration with the leading proton therapy equipment supplier IBA to further refine our treatment planning solution for proton treatments delivered with IBA systems."
The Center, a part of Provision Health Alliance's outpatient cancer treatment campus located in Knoxville, Tennessee, is scheduled to open in early 2014.
