Packaging solutions provider Tetra Pak has introduced new Tetra Top carton package with separable top in a bid to facilitate recycling.
The new packaging is said to enable consumers remove the plastic top from the carton sleeve with a simple thumb press, allowing them to be recycled separately.
According to the company, the new Tetra Top packaging has pre-cut perforation on the outer layer of the cardboard that makes it easy to separate the top from the sleeve without affecting the functionality of the package.
Tetra Pak marketing and product management vice president Charles Brand said,"The innovation of Tetra Top Separable Top is a response to consumers' increasing demand for better solutions to facilitate recycling, especially where waste management infrastructure calls for it."
Tetra Pak's Tetra Top package combines the convenience of a bottle with the contemporary look and feel of a carton package.
The package is suitable for chilled products and ambient still drinks - at home and on-the-go, said the company.
Arla Foods has already introduced the new package into its product range in Denmark and Sweden.
