Finnish paper and pulp company Mets Board has opened a new Express Board service center at the Gohrsmühle mill in Germany. The center has been designed for orders with short delivery lead times and smaller orders for all of the company’s folding boxboard grades.
Sheeting at the Express Board center, which is placed to serve European customers, is already underway with full service for all grades expected from end November 2012. Annual sheeting capacity at Gohrsmühle will be 60,000t.
Mets Board cartonboard sales in Europe and MEA vice president Markku Romano said the company has made significant investment to improve the availability of sheeted folding boxboards.
"There are many more short-term promotions and special occasion packs in today's market, all of which need extra flexibility and fast response. The new Express Board Service is also ideal at other times of peak demand and for just-in-time delivery," Romano said.
Mets Board has two sheet cutters at its nekoski mill in Finland, which came on stream in September 2012 providing annual sheeting capacity of 70,000t with potential for growth further.
