OIC Launched Its Clavicle Plate Solution

The Orthopaedic Implant Company (OIC), a developer of orthopaedic implants, launched its clavicle plate solution, designed to meet the needs of virtually all fracture patterns of the clavicle.

The set includes midshaft, neutral and distal anatomic clavicle plates.

The plates leverage the same locking and cortical screw designs as upcoming OIC upper extremity plates to reduce hardware redundancy while promoting set readiness and efficiency.

The system provides for lag screw fixation for comminuted patterns, non-locking screws to obtain compression across simple patterns and locking fixation in osteopenic bone and multi-fragmentary fracture patterns.

OIC vice president of business development Steve Lichtenthal noted the clavicle plates are a landmark launch for both OIC and the orthopaedic device market in general.

"What's remarkable is despite our sunk cost in R&D, these plates provide the same savings to our customers as our generic trauma products offer- over 50% less than conventional vendors' pricing.

"Yet again, OIC has proven that quality does not need to be compromised in order to lower costs," Lichtenthal added.

The company is planning to launch its Distal Radius and Proximal Humerus plates by November 2013.
