More Than 26 Billion Carton Packages Is Delived by Tetra Pak in 2012

Swedish food processing and packaging firm Tetra Pak has announced the delivery of more than 26 billion carton packages in 39 countries in 2012 with the Forest Stewardship Council logo (FSC), according to its Sustainability Update 2013.

The delivery represents a growth of 43% compared to 2011.

Tetra Pak also extended sourcing of bio-based polymers for the closures and caps that were used on over 610 million cartons.

The sustainability update further notes that Tetra Pak has recycled about 23% of its carton packages, making progress to reach recycling goal of 40% by 2020.

Tetra Pak Group president and CEO Dennis Jonsson said the progresses made by the company in 2012 are results of innovation and collaboration.

"We have no illusions about the challenges we face. But we believe that by finding new ways to process, package and distribute food and to deal with waste, and by working with partners throughout the value chain, we will make a difference for the futures of the company, the industry and the society," Jonsson added.
