China Set a Tentative Target of Over 350GWp for The Total Installation Capacity

The China government has set a tentative target of over 350GWp for the total installation capacity of PV systems in China in 2015, with an average of 100GWp additional PV systems to be installed each year during 2013-2015, according to a Chinese-language etaiyang.com report.

In addition, the China government has set guidelines for policies on the development of the solar energy industry, the report indicated. Among the guidelines are a minimum energy conversion rate of 20% for newly established makers or monocrystalline silicon solar cell factories, 18% for polycrystalline silicon solar cells, and a conversion rate of 12% for thin-film solar modules, the report said.

The technological requirements are considerably high, for example, China-based Jinglong Group and Yingli Green Energy Holding have so far reached average energy conversion rates of 18.8% and 19.5% respectively for monocrystalline solar cells, the report cited China-based makers as indicating.
