Polysilicon quotes in the China market have risen from US$24/kg in January to US$25/kg currently because the China government has imposed anti-dumping and anti-subsidization tariff rates on materials produced by some US- and South Korea-based makers amid strong domestic demand, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
Currently only leading China-based polysilicon makers have hiked prices, the sources indicated. But due to concerns that high prices may prompt small makers to resume their suspended polysilicon production and disrupt pricing in the market, the leading firms are unlikely to further hike quotes in the near future, the sources said.
