In the week ended November 11, coal shipments from the Port of Newcastle in Queensland, the coal producing state of Australia, totaled 2.43 million mt, according to Newcastle Port Corporation.
The figure constitutes a decrease of 12.4 percent compared to the previous week ended November 4, in which a week-on-week decrease of 23.2 percent in coal shipments had been observed.
In the November 1-11 period, Newcastle port exported 3.9 million mt of thermal and coking coal. The port authority has forecast that Newcastle port will ship a total of 11.1 million mt for the whole of November.
Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata are some of the larger exporters to ship coal from Newcastle port.
