Bizerba, a German company has developed the new Plug-in Label function, which is an interaction between price labeller and thermo label. The function allows food producers to raise production efficiency.
Set for launch in autumn 2013, the function has been developed for the new GLM-Ievo price-labellers and the Bizerba BRL 70 and BRL 90 thermo labels.
The new labeler GLM-Ievo identifies the label through a data matrix code provided on the back of the label liner strip, and automatically configures itself.
No sooner the food producer inserts a roll of labels, the system sets itself to the right configuration.
The system ensures that only the BRL 90 reaches the speed of 300mm per second, as it has been designed for this level of performance. If it detects the BRL 70, it automatically sets itself to a lower printing speed.
Bizerba Labels and Consumables sales director Marc Büttgenbach said, "This guarantees that all the barcodes and reference texts are printed optimally at each charge, that the labels are clearly readable and that there are fewer rejected products on the retailer's side.
The GLM-Ievo uses new hardware and software to make the Plug-in Label function possible.
