The Uphill Trend of Structural Panels Production Intensified in The Second Quarter of 2012

The uphill trend observed for some time in North American structural panels production has intensified in the second quarter of 2012. APA-The Engineered Wood Association reports an overall year-on-year production growth of 7% to 6.287 million m³. The output thus was also 5% higher than in the first quarter, when North American producers made 5.984 million m³. Like in the first quarter, this growth was solely due to higher OSB output. North American manufacturers produced 3.811 million m³ of OSB in the second quarter, which equates to an increase by 11% compared to last year and 7% compared to the 3.565 million m³ produced in the first quarter. Softwood plywood production at 2.476 only was a little higher than last year and 2% higher than the first-quarter output. Source: euwid-wood-products
