The wietap B1 and wietap B3 overvoltage protection modules from Wieland Electric protect the power infeed of industrial and large single-purpose buildings from the effects of direct contact with lightning. Both type 1 arresters are installed directly at the building infeed or in the main distribution.
The type 1 arresters are fitted with a spark gap and therefore function completely without leakage current. This makes them also suitable for use upstream of the meter. They provide a high discharge capacity of up to 100 kA (10/350), i.e. they protect electrical systems from lightning strikes up to 200 kA. The wieTAP B protection modules offer maximum availability of electrical systems thanks to secondary current limitation.
The one and three-phase overvoltage protection modules can be combined according to preference; the three-phase modules can be used in TN-C; TN-S and TT network systems. The devices are switch-off selective for 35 A gL/gG fuses (up to 50 kAeff). This means that the high secondary current limitation will not trip an upstream 35 A fuse in the event of a lightning strike, thereby increasing the system availability.
The overvoltage protection module fulfills all relevant standards for overvoltage protection devices.
