High-filled 80 g white decor paper has become €5-10/100 kg cheaper, as recently predicted, in the wake of talks that typically ran until the end of December. Yet a variety of decor paper producers noted that more radical price cuts had been adverted. Prices for less-filled white decor paper and light-coloured base printing paper did not alter as much due to their lower titanium dioxide content.
Some prices for dark printing base paper were even left untouched at the lower level implemented last year. The new prices should apply until at least the end of the first quarter, with buyers and sellers typically not fixing the exact duration of their agreements. Nonetheless, several decor paper producers and converters believe that prices will not budge in the second quarter, either, due to the expected stabilisation in raw material costs.
