Central Platform Completed Float-Over Installation in South China Sea

Topsides of the Asian biggest deep-sea oil and gas platform, central platform for Liwan 3-1 gas field, have completed float-over installation in South China Sea. With water depth of 1,500 meters, Liwan 3-1 is the first Chinese deep-sea gas field, whose central platform consists of jackets and topsides, both independently designed, built and installed by CNOOC.

Liwan 3-1 is expected to be put into production in the second half of 2013. Upon completion, the gas field could process 12 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in the long run, equivalent to the yearly carrying capacity designed for Phase I West-East Gas Pipeline Project, mainly supplying gas to Pearl River Delta and South China..
