NEMA’s index for halogen A-line lamp shipments showed sharp growth during Q1 2013 registering an index level of 528.3, an increase of 127.1 percent on a year-over year basis (y/y). In contrast, the incandescent lamp index retreated by 28.8 percent (y/y), to 40.2. The index for compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) posted a reading of 167.4, a marginal decrease from 168.4 during the previous quarter. However, the year-over-year comparison confirms shipments of CFLs are well below the 2012 level exhibiting a 6.5 percent decline (y/y).
Incandescent lamps yielded 2.9 percentage points (q/q) during the quarter settling at a market share of 67.9 percent. The market share for CFLs increased to 24.4, a gain of 1.1 percentage points (q/q). Halogen A-line lamps grew by 1.8 percentage points to a share of 7.7 percent of the combined market represented by the three lamp types.
