Taiwan's Component Suppliers Have Agreed to Reduce Prices of Their Products by 3%to 15%

Taipei,Oct.4,2012(CENS)--Requested by their compatriot machine-tool makers,Taiwan's component suppliers have agreed to reduce prices of their products by 3%to 15%to help the machine makers ease upward cost pressure caused by the appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar and their customers'call for cutting prices.

The machine tool makers include Victor Taichung Machinery Works Co.,Ltd.,Tongtai Machine&Tool Co.,Ltd.,AWEA Mechatronics Co.,Ltd.,Goodway Machine Corp.,Falcon Machine Tool Co.,Ltd.,and Kao Fong Machinery Co.,Ltd.

They pointed out that although their sales of high-end machines are still stable and profitable,the recent appreciation of the New Taiwan(NT)dollar against the U.S.dollar an undercutting competition from mainland Chinese and South Korean manufacturers have eroded their profits of middle-and low-end machines

To grip on production cost,the machine makers have requested suppliers of linear slideways,ballscrews,and die-cast components to lower prices.Some components suppliers have agreed to trim prices by 3-15%late last month and early this month.

Goodway executives pointed out that tens of the company's components suppliers have nodded at the company's request.

AWEA,Goodway's subsidiary,said some of its supporting suppliers agreed to reduce prices of ballscrews and linear slideways by 3-10%.

Victor Taichung executives noted that some of its components suppliers said they will lower prices of some of their products by 3-5%.

Kao Fong executives said some of the company's components suppliers have agreed to slash prices by 4-5%.

Falcon executives said the company's suppliers of linear slideways,ballscrews and die-cast components have agreed to lower prices by 3-5%.
