During Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Asia, China-based home appliance vendor Haier and Intel formed a strategic partnership and will expand into the wireless charging industry.
Vice president of Haier Home Appliances Group Wang Ye claimed that the wireless charging standard it established with Intel is more advanced than other existing wired and wireless charging technologies. They also plan to integrate Bluetooth into their standard to allow multiple devices to charge simultaneously.
In addition to IT devices, Haier also plans to integrate the technology into its appliances such as lamps and home security systems.
Haier and Intel have also developed wireless charging apps to help users search for charging hotspots and provide smart charging management. The company is planning to establish several wireless charging hotspots in public places in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, for testing in the second half.
