Mary Portas' Lingerie Line Kinky Knickers Is Expected to Go Back Into Production

UK-based renowned fashion and retail industry consultant Mary Portas’ lingerie line Kinky Knickers is expected to go back into production as the manufacturing firm producing the line Headen & Quarmby has been bought out of administration by its former management team.

Former managing director of the firm David Moore set up a new company Headen & Quarmby UK Ltd., and bought out the assets of the 79 year old Middleton-based manufacturer of premier sleepwear and intimate apparel.

The firm had announced last month that it was calling in administrators BDO, owing to cash flow shortfalls due to bad debts and cancelled orders from key customers over the Christmas season, leading to the loss of the total 33 jobs in the firm.

Twelve of the 33 employees, including Mr. Moore, have been reinstated to their positions at the firm, and production at the factory is expected to begin within the next ten days.

Established in 1935 in Middleton, the UK-based manufacturing firm is engaged in producing innerwear and intimate apparel for a number of high street retailers and brands, including John Lewis and Marks & Spencer for more than 80 years.
