LED packaging service provider Unity Opto Technology has obtained additional orders for LED light bulbs from US-based retail chains, equivalent to monthly shipments of three million units, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
To meet strong demand in the US and Europe, Unity Opto started volume production at its new factory in northern Taiwan in November, with total monthly production capacity for LED light bulbs increasing to three million units. Output will increase to 4-5 million units by the end of 2014, the paper said.
