The facelifted version of the third-generation Audi A8 has been teased in a series of design sketches ahead of its official reveal later this week.
First teased last week in a brief video, the facelifted Audi A8 is expected to consist of mostly cosmetic changes including revised front and rear bumpers, an updated front grille and restyled exhaust tips.
Also new to the luxury limousine will be Audi‘s Matrix all-LED lighting system.
Taking the German brand’s LED technology to the next level, the package comprises 25-diode headlight clusters, 18-diode indicator strips that light up sequentially in the direction of turning, and 24-diode tail-lights.
Audi has confirmed the upgraded A8 will be at this year’s Frankfurt motor show on September 10, with its fresh-faced high-performance S8 sibling expected to join alongside.
Currently, the local Audi A8 line-up consists of standard- and long-wheelbase variants powered by a choice of two diesel units – a 184kW/550Nm 3.0-litre V6 and a 258kW/800Nm twin-turbocharged 4.2-litre V8 – with prices ranging from $188,000 to $248,700.
The covers are set to come off the new Audi A8 on August 21, with both it and the S8 likely to arrive on our shores in early 2014.
