SCA Timber has acquired PLF, France's largest independent timber supplier to the DIY market and one of its major customers in the country. PLF is based at two sites near Poitiers and Rochefort, the latter near SCA’s own terminal, and has an annual turnover of about 0m, processing 70, 000m³ – mainly secondary processing such as planing and producing wood paneling/cladding. “We have long wanted to take a step forward in the value chain in France, ” said Jonas Mårtensson, president of SCA Timber. “With the acquisition of PLF, we are now one of the major suppliers directly into the building materials trade in France, as we are already in the UK and Scandinavia. France is one of our largest markets and we are now a full service provider. ” He said PLF had developed a reputation as a creative designer and innovative producer of coated wood products. Mr Mårtensson said SCA saw good integration possibilities from the acqusition, starting with its Tunadal mill in Sundsvall. Source: ttjonline.com
