India's finished steel consumption totaled 12.62 million mt in the first two months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2014), with a 0.5 percent year-on-year increase, according to provisional estimates released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) which is part of India's Ministry of Steel.
According to the data, the country's finished steel production rose by 1.9 percent year on year to 15 million mt in the first two months of the current Indian fiscal year. Among the main producers, state-owned steel producer SAIL recorded a rise of 0.1 percent year on year in finished steel production to 1.70 million mt, while the finished steel output of Tata Steel rose by 4.2 percent to 1.28 million mt and RNL's finished steel output decreased by 9.8 percent to 424,000 mt, both year on year
