Steel Authority of India (SAIL) is going to establish a new hot strip mill at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) with 3 million tons capacity every year. The estimated cost is at about Rs 4,360crore. The new mill will reheat and roll steel slabs into hot rolled coil and produce high quality products for automobile and white goods segment. The new plant will increase the capacity of hot metal to 4.5 mtpa once the ongoing expansion is completed.
