A total of 28 cities have been included in a pilot program for the promotion of new energy autos, according to a statement posted on the website of the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
These cities, the first batch in the pilot program, are mainly top and second-tier ones such as Beijing, Shanghai and Dalian, and also include lower-tier ones in East China's Fujian and Jiangxi provinces as well as South China's Guangdong Province.
The program will consist of subsidies to buyers and official purchases.
In these pilot cities, it is hoped more than 10,000 new energy autos will hit the streets of the mega-cities like Beijing and Shanghai between 2013 and 2015, while the target for other cities is at least 5,000 for the same period, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in September.
