Ford Australia has appointed a new man to head up its marketing department.

Graeme Whickman (below) assumes the role of Ford Australia marketing, sales and service vice president from September 1, replacing Brad Brownell, who is returning to the US to take up the position of Ford’s east market region general manager.

Whickman is currently vice president of sales at Ford Canada, heading the team that has achieved sales leadership in that market for the past three years.

Whickman previously headed Ford Canada’s marketing department, and has held a number of other management positions in Asia, New Zealand and the UK.

Ford Australia president and CEO Bob Graziano thanked Brownell and welcomed Whickman to his new role.

“During his time in Australia, Brad has been instrumental in establishing a number of new customer relationship processes and working very closely with our dealers to improve the Ford brand,” Graziano said. “We wish him all the best for his challenging new role in the US.

“Graeme’s appointment reflects the depth of talent we have available within Ford Motor Company globally and we look forward to him bringing the experience he has gained in multiple roles in Canada, Asia Pacific, Great Britain and New Zealand to bear here in Australia.”

Ford Australia sold 44,504 vehicles across the country in the first half of this year, up 2.5 per cent over the same period in 2012, largely on the back of strong sales of the Ranger 4×4, which increased from 4820 units to 8099.
