US: TIA Hails Fall Toy Preview 'A Great Success'

‘The event drew a considerable, optimistic crowd and showcased thousands of compelling playthings from our industry’s most creative toymakers,’ says the TIA’s Marian Bossard.

The Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) 10th annual Fall Toy Preview was filled with more than 3,300 buyers, licensors and trade guests in Dallas last month.

Taking place from September 27th to 29th at the Dallas Market Center, the event drew in 758 buyers from 359 retail outlets to preview thousands of new toys and games.

Retailers including Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Amazon, Kmart, Michaels Arts and Crafts, and A.C. Moore were all in attendance, while licensors from brands such as 20th Century Fox, Cartoon Network, Disney Consumer Products, NBC Universal, and Nickelodeon also dropped by.

“Fall Toy Preview was a great success. The event drew a considerable, optimistic crowd and showcased thousands of compelling playthings from our industry’s most creative toymakers,” said Marian Bossard, TIA senior vice president of global market events.

“Industry analysts are forecasting another successful year for the industry, and the innovative toys and games shown at Fall Toy Preview are sure to propel sales through the 2017 holiday shopping season.”

Toymakers were also given the chance to showcase their new creations in open, closed or combination booths and showrooms.

This year also marked the 10th anniversary of the Fall Toy Preview, and was recognised by the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau who presented the TIA with a seven-inch sculpture.

Steve Pasierb, president and CEO of the TIA, added: “Receiving an original Brad Oldham sculpture is an honour for all TIA members and further evidence of the high esteem the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau holds for Fall Toy Preview.”
