McDavid and Shock Doctor, two leading athletic protection providers, signed their first dual-brand athlete ambassador, 2015 NBA Champion Harrison Barnes. In his new role as global athlete ambassador, Barnes will exclusively wear McDavid’s patented line of Hex protective arm and leg sleeves, and Shock Doctor mouthguards on the court.
The sponsorship adds Barnes to the United Sports Brands team of ambassadors, which also includes NBA All-Stars’ Kevin Love and DeMarcus Cousins.
“Throughout my college and pro career, I have competed with some of the fastest, largest and strongest players in the world,” Barnes said. “I know how important it is to protect yourself on the court, so I’m excited to be partnering with the leaders in athletic protection to promote protective gear among basketball players.”
Barnes will wear McDavid Hex on the court and will help continue to build awareness for and promote the usage of basketball protective apparel. Additionally, Barnes will use a custom Shock Doctor mouthguard and become a leading voice in the brand’s safety campaign. The campaign teaches the importance of mouthguard protection and targets young and professional athletes as well as athletic governing bodies, youth leagues and players’ parents.
