In May this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume increased by 12.5 percent year on year and by 18.3 percent month on month to 287,488 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports rose by 22.7 percent year on year to 234,629 units.
Meanwhile, in the first five months of the current year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 7.2 percent year on year to 1,310,250 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports indicated a rise of 11.6 percent year on year to 1,043,161 units.
In May this year, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Asia, the US and Canada increased by 78.3 percent, 33.3 percent and 23.5 percent respectively, year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Africa, Europe and Latin America, down 73.6 percent, 33.6 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.
