Imports of Plywood Into Spain Have Dropped Again in The First Three Months of 2012

Imports of plywood into Spain have dropped again in the first three months of 2012 after a weak final quarter of 2011. AEIM, an organisation representing Spanish wood importers, reported that imports of non-tropical hardwood and softwood plywood were down around 19% compared with the same stretch last year at 8, 133 m³. This latest downturn was predominantly fuelled by dwindling imports from Finland, which tumbled 42% to 2, 628 m³ by the end of March. Spanish tropical plywood imports plummeted 44% to 3, 054 m³ in the first three months. Some 2, 775 m³ or 91 % of all tropical plywood imports originated in China and Brazil.
