Glasstec Exhibitors Were Very Interested in What They Were Showing

Today marks the last day of glasstec 2012 and many exhibitors say they have been pleased with the show attendance this year.Companies, which have been featuring everything from new machinery and equipment to software, glass andmore, say many of those walking the show have been doing so focused on buying and not just seeing what's new.

Nancy Mammaro from the Italian machinery company Mappi, said those who visited her booth were very interested in what they were showing. She said they have been seeing growth in the market for laminated glass and introduced the new Lammiflex line for laminating PVB without an autoclave and without a climatic room.

"This is nice because not everyone has the budget for a full line and this is more flexible to use,"she said."It's a good solution for laminating PVB."

Vancouver,British Columbia-based EcoCoat has also been demonstrating its solution for construction-site glass protection. The protective coating can be applied either in the factory or on site and can stay on the glass for up to two years.

"Once the project is complete the converter is applied and the(protective coating)runs off like water,"explained Dean Woronuk, business development manager, adding that it also meets the regulations of Europe's Registration,Evaluation,Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances.

And for those interested in all-glass aesthetic options,Klein showed how its hardware can be used on a number of interior sliding doors.Paul Witherby, business development manager, explained the company's newest product is a self-closing sliding door. And with the hardware recessed in the ceiling,it's a way to maximize the glass visibility.

"It can be designed so you don't see the hardware,"he said, adding that the doors can provide a light,space-saving design element."
