India’s flexible packaging materials company Uflex has introduced a new pouch designed for liquids like ghee or clarified butter for longer shelf life.
The Profile Pouch with sonically sealed spout features three ply structure comprising Isotropic PET/ Isotropic PET/ Co-ex Nylon Polyethylene (PE) which are designed to optimize the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) for extending the shelf life of the packed product.
Uflex said that the two Isotropic polyester layers provide enhanced mechanicals to the laminate required to withstand harsh supply chain conditions.
Engineered at Uflex’s packaging plant at Noida, the laminates of the pouch are reverse printed using the rotogravure technology in order to eliminate potential ink smearing/bleeding in the surface printed poly pouched pillow packs.
The pouch has been offered by the Indian firm to Paras Dairy for packing its ghee (clarified butter).
Uflex packaging and new product development, joint president Jeevaraj Pillai said: “This first of its kind Profile Pouch with Sonically Sealed Spout offered to Paras Dairy for packing its Desi Ghee (clarified butter) is currently in the process of reaching the market.
“Talks are on with some of the popular F&B companies of India for offering similar customized packaging solutions for juices, drinks, milk, dairy products etc.”
Uflex has also manufactured the Pick-Fill & Seal (PFS) machine required for filling and sealing the product in the pouch for Paras Dairy.
The PFS machine manufactured for Paras Dairy is designed to operate at a speed of 35 pouches/ minute.
Pillai added: “It is fascinating to note that the already existing filling machines can be slightly modified without prohibitive capital expenditure in order to entertain the Profile Pouches for Liquids with Sonically Sealed Spouts.”
