The Yanke Group of Companies and Royal LePage teamed up to hold a food drive for victims of the flooding in Alberta.
The event was held July 2 at the Stonegate Walmart in Saskatoon, Sask. from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m. Donations of food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries and other necessities were collected throughout the day.
"It's been great," Paul Chavady of Royal LePage said Tuesday evening. "The people of Saskatoon have really showed up to help. We have had everything from canned goods to a futon. It's been great to see the support. Even local businesses came by to support, with North Ridge homes donating a full six-ft. pallet of water bottles and paper towel, and DMS Landscaping donating three shopping carts filled with vital necessities."
Along with Chavady, Jerry Hallgrimson of Royal LePage and Travis Rotenburger of Yanke coordinated the drive.
By the end of the day, a Yanke trailer was filled with 16 pallets of goods; about two-thirds of the total trailer. The good were delivered to the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank for distribution to areas in need.
