Thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panel manufacturers, AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) and Chimei Innolux Corp. (CMI), of Taiwan attended the just-ended International Touch Panel and Optical Film Exhibition (Touch Taiwan) 2012, held August 29-31 at the Taipei World Trade Center’s Nangang Exhibition Hall.

AUO`s exhibits included a large video wall of the world`s thinnest 46-inch high-resolution super-narrow bezel panels; 50-inch Full HD transparent display for vending machine; world`s first commercially available 55-inch 4K by 2K 2D/3D switchable TV display; 50-inch Full HD 3D TV display with super-narrow bezel; and OGS touch solutions ranging from 4.7- to 27-inches; as well as mobile device applications including high resolution smartphone displays and Full HD high resolution Ultrabook displays with slimmer and lighter designs.

The highlight of AUO`s exhibit is the 50-inch FHD transparent display for vending machine, featuring high transparency and color saturation to maximize visibility of products, coupled with multi-functionality to suit various commercial displays.

CMI showcased TFT-LCD displays and technologies focusing on high resolution and green power features as part of the theme “Display Technology, Connecting to the Future.”

CMI`s 9.7-inch and 330-ppi ultra high resolution displays, using TAOS (Transparent Amorphous Oxide Semiconductors) and AAS (Azimuthal Anchoring Switch) technologies, offers higher resolution and refined image to deliver pleasant viewing. The firm’s 11.6-inch, dual-panel displays with touch screen functionality. The combination of two AAS FHD panels, one on which includes a WIS (Window Integrated Sensor) touch screen module, is ideal for both Ultrabooks and tablet PCs, hence being multi-functional.

CMI also showcased large-scale 3D LED TV displays with higher power efficiency and narrower bezel, available in 39, 50, and 65 inches, overcoming the technological bottleneck of large panels by producing narrower bezels of 6mm and 7.5mm.
