Dress up by Design Scoops Award for Best Shell Scheme,a Giant Sylvanian Families House

Dress Up By Design scoops award for Best Shell Scheme while Epoch Making Toys takes Best Designed Stand for its giant Sylvanian Families house.

A giant Sylvanian Families house and a Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood-inspired toy stand have been the centre of attention at London Toy Fair 2015.

Epoch Making Toys’ Sylvanian Families and Dress Up By Design have been crowned champions in this year’s London Toy Fair Best Stand Awards.

Both were selected by a panel of judges from both the BTHA and London Toy Fair for their use of imagination in bringing their respective brands to life.

Dress Up By Design (pictured) scooped the 2015 Best Shell Scheme Award with its minimalistic tone and use of sustainable wood, applied to ‘bring its various dress up brands – including Winnie the Pooh children’s dress up – to life.

The team was handed the award by the BTHA’s Roland Earl and London Toy Fair’s Majen Imminck, who applauded the stand for its use of imagination and thoughtful design.

“We collected all of the wood used from Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood,” joked Dena Pearce, head of sales and marketing at Dress Up By Design.

The stand was designed by Kate Springett and her team of six designers, who each had a hand in constructing its unique look from the ground up.

“We have used wood collected from a sustainable forest, and, along with the help of our carpenter, got to work on building the constructs you see on the stand today,” said Springett.

“We were looking for a backdrop that would allow the costumes to speak for themselves, that’s why we went for the natural neutral look.”

Meanwhile, Epoch Making Toys took the 2015 award for Best Designed Stand, acknowledged for its giant Sylvanian Families replica house and numerous settings.

The team: Simon Riggs, Graham Brennan, Sally Carnall and Yuki Otsuka where praised for their ‘thoughtful use of shell scheme.’

Sally Carnall, marketing manager at Epoch Making Toys, said: “This stand is meant to represent the whole world of Sylvanian Families.

“We don’t just focus on the product, but bring the whole world to life. We were dead set on bringing the house to life. People seem to be impressed by the scale of the set, and the way we seem to have brought the brand to life.”

The BTHA’s Earl, added: ““It is an imaginative use of space, clever displays for the product that they are promoting, nice build. It feels relaxed and there is a nice ambience.”
