Red Brick has partnered with Novelis to offer its beer in the latter’s evercan certified high-recycled content aluminium can sheets.
The company will initially offer Laughing Skull Amber Ale in the new cans, followed by its signature Hoplanta India Pale Ale next month.
Red Brick intends to introduce several new styles in evercan in 2016, starting with its new spring seasonal Hibiscuwit, a Belgian Wheat Ale.
Red Brick head brewer Garett Lockhart said: "Our decision to expand from glass bottles to evercan aluminum cans aligns with our goal to be an environmentally responsible leader in the southern U.S. craft beer market.
"With evercan, we can achieve greater sustainability without sacrificing any aspect of the beer's quality."
Novelis evercan Craft Brew Sales director Bruce Maclane said: "We're finding that environmentally-minded brands, and craft brewers in particular, are looking for a more sustainable packaging to help reinforce their brand profiles and further differentiate their products from the competition.
"Red Brick is one of several craft brewers that will be coming on board with evercan in 2015."
Launched in 2014, Novelis' evercan is made up of a minimum 90% certified recycled aluminum, which can be recycled with 95% lesser energy and produces 95% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than manufacturing primary aluminium.
The cans chill more quickly and keep beer fresher longer by eliminating light exposure, improving the overall drinking experience for consumers.
The two companies have also joined forces on a closed-loop recycling system for their used beverage cans.
Under the agreement, Red Brick will return the used cans to a nearby Novelis recycling centre where the evercan material is recycled back into new evercan sheet for re-use.
