OAO Mogotex Intends to Complete The Modernization of Its Garment Factory in 2014

OAO Mogotex, the Mogilev-based Belarusian public joint-stock company intends to complete the modernization of its garment factory in 2014, Mogotex director general Viktor Matiyevich said at the opening of the renewed museum of the company’s history, Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA reported.

For the last few years, the company has been consistently modernizing its garment factory, by replacing outdated equipment and installing latest technologies. Mr. Matiyevich said the company used to earlier focus on manufacturing fabrics, but it now pays close attention to making readymade garments using the fabric, as it gives added value, secures profitable operation, and allows investing in the development of the company.

Earlier this month, Mogotex signed an agreement to purchase a modern French cloth-cutting complex with expected delivery in the first quarter of next year. The company also has plans to import more than 100 sewing machines. Once the modernization of the garment factory is completed, it will greatly improve labour productivity and minimize manual labour, while improving the quality of the products, Mr. Matiyevich said.

Since 2008, Mogotex has invested over US$ 30 million in modernization and upgradation of its production units. As per the company’s business plan, its monthly fabric production capacity would increase from the current 3.6 million metres a month to about 4-4.1 million metres a month by late 2015.

Mogotex was established in 1973, and it was made a joint stock company in 2000. The company makes fabrics for special clothing and uniforms, garment-lining fabrics for raincoats, ready-made overalls and home textiles.

In 2011, Mogotex opened a garment manufacturing unit in Bykhov, Mogilev Oblast, followed by one more unit in 2013 at the premises of the affiliated enterprise Mona in Polotsk, Vitebsk Oblast. These units have capacities to produce 20,000 units of special clothing and uniforms and 30,000 units of home textile products per month.
