The Sales of Audi Worldwide Adds up 12.3% in First Half of 2012

German carmaker Audi has reported 12.3% rise in its sales to 733,000 cars globally during the initial six months of 2012, when compared to the same period in 2011.

Audi Board of Management chairman Rupert Stadler said the brand is growing in all world regions.

"As a result, we are clearly on course to achieve our target of 1.4 million deliveries by year's end," Stadler said.

European sales for Audi rose over the initial six months of 2012 by 2.8% to nearly 393,350 vehicles and its sales in German market increased 7.3% to 134,173 units over the year ago period.

According to Audi, Asia-Pacific has been the fastest-growing sales region during the January to June 2012 period with 18.6% rise in Japan, South Korea with 50.2% rise and in India the company's sales rose 42.8% over the same period in 2011.

During June 2012, Audi's worldwide sales increased 13.1% to133,050 vehicles and also reported 14.6% rise in its sales in Germany when compared to the June 2011.

The Ingolstadt-based company's Chinese and US sales increased 20.4% and 26% during June over the year ago month.

"We want to continue this growth path in the second half of the year, when overall sales are traditionally not as strong," Stadler said.

"The new generation of the Q5 will also contribute as well as the new A3, which is especially important for Europe."
