China-based Build Your Dreams (BYD) will establish a new electric bus manufacturing plant in California, US by 2013.
The factory's location is to be declared by March or April 2013, which is to be backed up by a Warren Buffet company.
The plant is expected to start manufacturing of BYD'S K9 electric busses by 2014 with a capacity of 50 to 100 busses and increasing the production to 500 in 2015.
BYD senior vice-president Li Ke was quoted by the Xinhua News Agency as saying that managerial and other positions at the plant will be filled with local residents, but some of the parts and production lines used there will come from China.
According to a research by the Pike research, California is to remain main market for the electric vehicles in the US with expected 25% increase in the sales in the next eight years.
