Methanol Market Showed an Upward Trend in Europe and Was Stable in US

Methanol market showed mixed trend in Asia, whereas, it showed an upward trend in Europe and was stable in US in the week ending March 2, 2013.   

In China, Methanol prices went up slightly. Prices were spotted at US$ 375/ton CFR China.   Methanol prices went down in Korea. Market analysts spotted Methanol prices in the range of US$ 375-380/ton FOB Korea.  

In Japan, Methanol prices showed similar trend as Korea. Prices were spotted in the range of US$ 375-380/ton CFR Japan.  

In India, Methanol prices remained steady and were marked at US$ 350/ton CFR India.   In S.E. Asia, Methanol prices increased slightly and were assessed at US$ 385-390/ton CFR S.E. Asia.  

Asian contract prices posted by Methanex for Asia pacific region were at US$ 450/ton. Prices are valid for the month of March.  

In Europe, Methanol prices surged up slightly due to improved downstream buying sentiments in the region and higher Methanol prices in Asia. Prices were assessed in the range of US$ 335-345/ton FOB Rotterdam. Contract prices posted by Methanex, valid from January 1st - March 31st, 2013 is € 370/ton FOB NWE.
