THE Second Congressional District Office Is Preparing The Distribution

THE second congressional district office is preparing the distribution of thousands of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) in Zamboanga City.

The office of Representative Erico Basilio Fabian (2nd district, Zamboanga Peninsula) has partnered with the Department of Energy (DOE) for the implementation of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project (Peep).

Fabian's office covers 67 of Zamboanga City's 98 villages, which are all located in the east coast.

Fabian said Wednesday that they will be distributing at least 10,000 CFLs to households within his congressional district.

The distribution of the CFLs will be from September 22-28, Fabian added.

The Peep project of the DOE aimed to lower the power consumption in residential and public sectors by replacing incandescent bulbs with CFLs.

Peep, which was initiated by the DOE way back in 2009, mandates compulsory compliance in all government offices and establishments, and seek similar adherence in private households nationwide.

The DOE provision of the CFLs will ensure the switch to more efficient lighting fixtures in the country in the next couple of years and reduce lighting power consumption by as much as 10 percent.

Fabian said his office' staff is fast tracking the mode of distribution of the CFLs to qualified beneficiaries.
