Total Corbion PLA to Exhibit Bioplastic Solutions at Fakuma Trade Fair in Germany

Total Corbion PLA is set to showcase its advanced bioplastic solutions at this year’s Fakuma trade fair in Germany.

The event will take place from 17 to 21 October in Friedrichshafen.

At the event, the company will exhibit a range of partner applications based on Luminy Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) resins.

Luminy PLA portfolio is comprised of high heat and standard PLA grades, which can be used in different markets ranging from packaging to durable consumer goods.

The firm will exhibit a biodegradable wood composite soap case for luxury cosmetics packaging.

Developed by Finland-based Sulapac, the advanced solution is prepared by using renewable and pure raw materials and does not include any ecologically harmful compounds.

Pack & Proper has developed bioplastic thermoformed black platter by using Luminy PLA for effective presentation of food products such as cheese, sushi and hors d'oeuvres.

Other PLA applications include thermoformed domes from Alphaform, PLA-lined paper cups from Totempak, single-use aprons from Gaia and coffee cup lids from WinGram.

Its applications also comprised of tea bags from Nonwoven Network, coffee capsules from ATI, thermoformed packaging from Bio4Pack and foamed ice cream packaging from Synbra.

Recently, Total Corbion also announced the availability of PLA made from Bonsucro, providing converters and brand owners with certified PLA bioplastic.

During the second half of 2018, Total Corbion is also planning to begin the operations of its new 75 kTpa PLA production facility in Rayong, Thailand.

The facility will be used to produce Luminy portfolio of PLA neat resins ranging from standard PLA to high heat resistant PLA.
