Linpac Packaging,a UK-based food packaging manufacturer, has partnered with Addmaster to develop an advanced packaging range with built-in antimicrobial technology to ease bacteria growth on the outer packaging of meat.
Linpac said that contamination from bacteria such as Salmonella,E.coli and Campylobacter is an increasing concern for the entire supply chain and stopping cross-contamination during preparation, processing, packing and distribution is considered as a key strategy in lowering the risk.
Addmaster is a supplier of performance additives. Its Biomaster antimicrobial technology is a silver-based additive that can be added into any plastic, paper, textile, paint or coating product.
Linpac Packaging director of innovation Alan Davey said that the company's aim is to focus on the concerns raised by the customers and help them to reduce the chances of bacterial growth on outer packaging of meat products.
"LINPAC Packaging is committed to helping its customers deliver safer food products by bringing together innovation and technology to develop high quality packaging solutions,"Davey added.
Addmaster managing director Paul Morris claimed that their additives are cost-effective and do not affect product properties such as taste and smell.
