The global production value for LED-acklit tablets in 2014 is estimated at US$476 million, slipping on year by 21.7%, and that for LED-backlit LCD TVs is at US$2.39 billion, decreasing by 14.3%, according to LEDinside.
In terms of other LED developments, LEDinside estimates 239 new MOCVDs will be installed globally in 2014 and will continue to increase going into 2015 as some local governments will continue to issue subsidies in China, with more than 170 MOCVDs expected to be newly installed throughout the country alone.
Chinese LED chip manufacturers have improvee their technology and scaled up production capacity. In the past, Chinese LED backlight and lighting applications largely relied on Taiwan or international LED makers, but this is no longer the case, the firm said.
